Multiple Language Translations

How to enable multiple language translations in your guides

What is Multiple Language Translation functionality?

Guidey™ provides you with the functionality to automatically translate your content into 110 languages, making it easy for you to communicate information to guests in their language of choice.

The Guidey™ Editor gives you complete control of which languages your guests can select and even lets you control the default language for your guides.

How to set the default language for your guides

The 'Default Language' of a property defines which language a guest first sees when they launch your guide. When you create a new property, the default language is always set to English (EN). However, you can easliy edit this at any time, meaning that you can chose the most suitable language based on your guests' preferences. Simply follow these steps:

  1. Log in to, or navigate to the home page of the Guidey™ Editor.
  2. Click on the property that you would like to edit.
  3. Click 'Edit' on the 'Basic Setup' category.
  4. Scroll down and you will see a section named 'Default Language'. By default, this is set to 'English (EN)'.
  5. Click 'Edit' on the 'Default Language' category. You will then see a selectable list of languages.
  6. Click on the language that you would like to set as your default language. Then click 'Save'.
  7. Once the 'Save' process is completed, the section will close. The 'Default Language' section will appear checked and will show your chosen language.
  8. When you next refresh the browser on your guide app it will load in your chosen default language - guests will now see content in your chosen default language the first time they load your guide. Please note however, if a user has previously set a different language within the guide on a specific device, the guide will continue to load in the language that the user has set on that device. This is because a user set language takes priority over the default language.

How to set multiple language translation options for guests

By default, no language translations are displayed to guests and the button to select languages within the guide app is hidden. When you set one or more languages options, the button to select these language options will be displayed to guests within the guide app. Here's how to enable multiple translation language options for your guests:

  1. Log in to, or navigate to the home page of the Guidey™ Editor.
  2. Click on the property that you wish to edit.
  3. Click 'Edit' on the 'Basic Setup' category.
  4. Scroll down and you will see a section named 'Language Translations'.
  5. Click 'Edit' on the 'Language Translations' category. You will then see a check box list of languages.
  6. Click on the box next to each language that you want to display, so that a check mark appears. Once you've selected all the languages that you want to display, click 'Save'. Note: you can select as many languages as you want, however, selecting too many languages can create a lengthy dropdown box within your guide app, which can make it more difficult for guests to find their chosen language. So, we recommend choosing just the most popular languages for guests in your region.
  7. Once the 'Save' process is completed, the section will close. The 'Language Translations' section will appear checked and will show your chosen language.
  8. Providing you've successfully saved one or more language options, when you next refresh the browser on your guide app, you'll see that the language selection button appears. Clicking on this button will show your selected language options. Clicking on a new language will automatically update your content into the chosen language. Please note that some content, including place names wont always be translated.
