Passcodes

How to secure your guides with passcodes

How do passcodes work?

You can set a passcode to restrict access to your guides. You can choose a 6 digit passcode for each digital guide and change this as often as you like - only guests who have the latest passcode will be able to get access your guides.

Passcodes are an optional feature, so you can choose to leave your guides unrestricted if your prefer. If a passcode is not set then anyone who has a copy of your web link can access your guides. By default, a passcode is not set.

How to set a passcode

  1. Log in to, or navigate to the home page of the Guidey™ Editor.
  2. Click on the property that you wish to edit.
  3. Within the first section, under your QR code, you’ll find a box named “Passcode”. Initially this box will display “Not set”. This means that no passcode has been set and anyone who has the web link can access your digital guide.
  4. Click the “Add” button within this box to open up the passcode input field.
  5. Type your chosen passcode in this input field. The passcode must be exactly 6 digits - it can be made up of any combination of numbers between 0-9.
  6. Click “Save”. If the passcode entered does not meet the required conditions then an error message will display and the passcode will not be set. When the passcode meets the required conditions then the chosen passcode will display in the “Passcode” box. This means that the passcode has been successfully set.
  7. When you next refresh the browser on your guide you'll see a screen prompting you to enter a passcode.
